Email address: nbaum@century21krm.com Real estate is a second career for Nancy Baum. She had been a college-level French and Spanish teacher for 37 years before her retirement in 2001. Two years later she said, "Two years of being a lady of leisure are enough!" She became licensed and affiliated with CENTURY 21 Kennedy, Ryan, Monigal and Assoc.. Inc. According to her, "I had no idea of the challenges that lay ahead. I have grown quite a bit since those first days." Nancy and her husband attended the University of Chicago and have lived in Hyde Park for over 30 years. They raised their daughter here and have long championed the community for its convenient location, diversity of architecture, and the blend of people living here. Over the years she has worn many hats, serving on the Board of Directors of Ancona Montessori School, working as a fundraiser for St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and organizing her neighbors into a block club. She currently serves on the board of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference, chairing its Schools Committee. She also volunteers as a docent at the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute and is a Chicago Greeter with the City of Chicago's Chicago Greeter Program. She loves tennis, golf, biking, and going to the beach. In reflecting on the neighborhood, Nancy says, "Over the years I have seen Hyde Park and the surrounding communities undergo exciting growth and renewal. Now, more than ever, is a wonderful time to live here."
