In 1967, after eleven years with the University of Chicago's real-estate department--seven of those years as manager--Winston Kennedy and two associates from Hyde Park founded the real-estate firm that still bears their names. For 38 years, he has specialized in marketing residential properties in Hyde Park and in adjoining neighborhoods of Chicago. Although he no longer has an ownership interest in the firm, he continues an intensely active involvement.

Winston has consistently promoted increased professionalism in real-estate marketing, first as President of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, then as Regional Vice-President of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, and as a director of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. Winston is a graduate of the Realtor Institute. In 1998, he was named "Chicago Realtor of the Year" by the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.

He has served as President of the Board of the Hyde Park Cooperative Society, Vice-President of the Hyde Park Historical Society, and Chairman of the Board of the former Hyde Park Y.M.C.A. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the Blue Gargoyle Youth Services Center. He continues to maintain an active involvement in other community and civic organizations.
